These pictures are from a few years ago, but I love them so much, and they represent what we are doing here at the farm. When you pick corn and haul it in to put in the bins, the kernels have a red kind of protective skin, kind of like a peanut has its brown skin. The kernel is not covered in this skin; the skin is found at the base of the kernel where it is attached to the cob. We call them "bee's wings." Anywho..... that is what you see floating in the air and piling up on the ground for the girls to play in: red snow!
And this is how we clean up from all this snow:
Daddy and the SUPER-SIZED air compressor to the rescue!
That's about it from the farm. Oh! I mowed the yard tonight with a beautiful sunset to entertain me, and I ended up mowing in the dark! I think that was only the second time I have ever had to turn the lights on. Can't wait to see the spots I missed in the morning! ACK!
When I do that I always miss some place you want to run and get it cut before everyone else does
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos. I never thought of using the air compressor to get them out of my daughter's hair. I had to pick them out the other night before she went to bed.
ReplyDeleteHi Lana, I've never seen anything like that before.... Bee's wings, huh??? I love the idea of calling it RED Snow... The girls enjoyed it, didn't they???
ReplyDeleteIt's getting dark sooner these days.... Good luck with your night mowing... Put a big headlight on the mower!!!!! ha
Have a great Sunday.
Hugs,
Betsy

ReplyDeleteOur beans are SO FAR from being ready to be picked. I feel like I'm watching them for signs that fall is finally here and I can pull my sweaters out of storage. Meanwhile, today, I'm a bit sweaty.
