This yearly event is a mecca for bluegrass lovers because that is the featured attraction for the weekend. BUT a tractor pull, vintage car show, softball tournament, and demolition derby are other crowd favorites. Did I mention flea markets and wonderful food? Carni rides and mud volleyball? How about over 300 campers parked everywhere? Kind of get the idea that we have it all right here in this little town in the northwest corner of our county? Where it's difficult to get a phone signal? And your digital clocks turn back and forth an hour depending exactly on which part of the site you are standing? Dang! It's almost more fun than a person can stand! (That must be why most people bring along chairs to sit down after too much fun!!)
We just took in the music on Saturday night, then pulled a six hour shift selling pop and water for the girls' school on Sunday. After that stint, we all had ants in our pants, so we went off for some serious Festival Fun!
Prizes won after throwing darts at balloons!
The jumpy experience, kind of like bungey jumping only mother friendly!
Ready to launch Tink!
Too Much Fun Mom!
Mud volleyball! Icky but also fun!
Car Show~We take this seriously around these parts!
Love the red!
Tink, the Brave (NOT!)
Bear, the Fearless~ REALLY!
A good time is being had by all. Now where is the cotton candy?????
One more ride for Bear.
A treat for Tall Guy and me!
Bluegrass, The Chapman Family
Bear is trying to look like her daddy. We obviously found the cotton candy
Bear and Grandpa, taken by Tink.
A quick rest for the weary!
Whew! We came home and had our own bonfire and s'mores. What a great way to end the day. Not sure if we are going back today. Tall Guy is out cleaning up silage equipment and putting it away, and I have apples cooking on the stove slowly becoming applesauce. So much for a day OFF from work, but then it's all good at the end of the day when you realize what you have accomplished. Hope you are having a great day, and don't forget to end a bit early so Tuesday won't come up and bite you in the tushy!
Stay tuned for more about applesauce and a remodel update later in the week!
it was good to see all of you there at the festival! it was really neat this year. we only made it that one day. i would love to see the parade today, but it's about an hour drive for us, and, heck, we already went up there once!! oh, well. glad you all had a great time. i love the fall festival!
ReplyDeleteI love Tink's expression on the slide! I haven't heard bluegrass in so long. You are making me want to listen to it today and I think I will!
ReplyDeleteI love how you capped the day with smores and cooking applesauce, which I can not wait to do!
Looks like you guys had a blast!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day for the family, Lana.... I love small town festivals like that... That mud volleyball looks like loads of fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how 2 kids in the same family have such different personalities??? Mine were like that also... And my two Texas Granddaughters are like your girls. My Brooke is a tomboy in every respect---fearless... Bay Lee is a girly girl--scared of everything.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful family outing.
Hugs,
Betsy
This sounds like a wonderful day. I love Bluegrass Music. We live right next to the divide between eastern and central time. It is crazy. My husband works in the eastern time zone and I work in the central.
ReplyDeleteOh! I loved all the pics and it looked like great fun, but the funnel cake took it over the top! MMMM
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is nice to just go with the flow of that day. It seems you did just that....
ReplyDeleteHappy Labor day!
Glad you were able to have fun this weekend

ReplyDeleteWow! That looks like so much fun. I'm a new follower from the blog hop. Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your family had a great day...I really liked the mud volleyball picture. That is something different that I bet would be pretty fun if you don't mind getting a little dirty...
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone had a blast. I love the antique cars. They're a big thing around my area also.
ReplyDeleteHow much fun was that! So did you partake in the mud volleyball? :) My favorite photos were the one of Grandpa that Tink shot and the weary festivalgoers shot at the end! Thanks for sharing.
