Walking and Selling Beef!

Got Beef?

Need Beef?  With a hint of apple flavor?  Specially fed by elves adorable little girls?

 We have Beef!

Tall Guy is taking orders for our last group that is about market ready.  We usually call up people who regularly buy from us, but in the past two years, I have been able to drum up a bit of business via Facebook.  Who knew!?!  I think the farthest our beef has traveled is North Carolina, with its first stop in a mom and dad's freezer in Monticello, IN.

When we sell these cows, we can sell the whole cow or parts, like a half or a quarter.  Now before anyone gets their nickers in a bunch, we do not have half a cow walking around the lot.  We have to sell a whole cow, not matter what the equation: 1/2 + 1/4 +1/4.  We take our cows to one of two processing plants close by, and they do the packaging.

Many people enjoy and feel safe knowing where their beef comes from, and we like to help those people out.  The rest of the herd is sold to market and makes its way out to consumers from the grocery stores.

Time to go grab some hamburger out of the freezer for dinner.  That's the nicest part of having our own cattle; I just have to walk to the freezer to get it!

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!  I'm sure we all are not thinking too much about food right now, except may in the past tense, "We ate all the ham, turkey, roast beef, and caramel corn and fudge?!?!?!?!?!"  Good Grief!  Hang in there, start eating lean portions, moderation in all food, and drink your water.  We will all be back to our fighting weight in no time!

  1. Oh, if I didn't have a freezer full of beef already I would definitely order some of your apple flavored beef! ha, ha!

Did you ship it all the way to N.C.?

  2. Ooooh! How can I get this special "lovingly fed" beef to Canada?

Reminds me of the commercial where the farmer says "This ain't no romance novel."

  3. We have our beef and venison processed locally. It really does make a difference and tastes so much better.

  4. wow my son wants to be a farmer but of course on a much smaller scale. He has been researching and telling me stuff he has learned about raising beef cattle.... Who knew there was SOOOO much to know and learn. I always love your stories and adventures.

  5. That's the healthiest beef I've seen... I'm sure you all won't have any trouble selling it... I would love some of that Apple Beef... ha ha...

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We did --and it was fun to have a White Christmas, which is rare for us.... However, my sons didn't get here due to the snow --so that was kinda sad...

    Happy New Year.

  6. It is so nice to have your own beef. We will butcher in Jan
    Hope you sell them all

  7. Whenever I eat down all the pork and lamb in my freezer right now, i may contact you for some beef. Love a good steak!

  8. Oh my goodness! I love the pictures of the critters and also the darling little girls. Reminds me of our oldest daughter when she was about 7, would go out into the pasture, kneel down, and the Jerseys would run down the hill toward her. Looking out the window, my heart almost stopped!, but the cattle stopped just short of her and she looked like a little St. Francis with them surrounding her. She wasn't the least bit afraid.

I always love the pics of your girls. So cute!! :-)

  9. I would LOVE to have fresh beef like that. One day, when I grow up, I'm going to have a house with a big freezer full of farm-fresh meat.

  10. I certainly appreciate knowing where my beef comes from!

I don't like cooking raw meat (I don't really like cooking period), so I don't eat meat unless I'm ordering it in a restaurant, but these pictures are wonderful. Your girls are too cute!

  11. Merry Christmas! I love the pictures of the girls feeding them through the fence. So cute!

  12. OOOhhhh Sweet Apple Beef Yummy!
