A Comment about Word Verificaiton

Ok my dear bloggy friends.  I am trying to visit several blogs tonight to get caught up on my reading, but some of you have a hoop for those of us leaving comments that keeps tripping me up!  It's your WORD VERIFICATION!  I type in a comment, then move on to another blog, only to realize I didn't wait long enough for your word verification to pop up, and by that time my comment is lost in cyber space :-(

I asked my go to Bloggy wizard about this feature and was told the following:

"most of those folks don’t know that blogger’s spam filters are so strong now that word verification is pretty much unwarranted… not to mention it kills community because people get frustrated and leave…"

so.......Here is what you can do if you want to be brave and make it easier for those who visit your blog to leave comments:

 Go to your dashboard, click on Settings, and then scroll down until you see this:

Click on NO

I have not had any problems with this change on my blog.  It will make it easier for visitors to comment without waiting or missing a step.  I love to give comments about as much as I love to receive them, and I want us all to have great feedback!

    Can I get a HUGE amen for this post!!!??? I also have not had any problems since removing word verification from my blog, and I KNOW it has made my followers SO VERY HAPPY it's gone!

    And one more thing - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take off word verification - especially if you moderate comments before they're published anyway!!! It's like a double negative!

    AMEN---AMEN----AMEN.... I have griped about this for years!!!! What really gripes me is when I have to put in a word verification --and then they still have to approve me... IF they are going to approve me anyhow--why make me go through the word verification also????? GRRRRR...

    I also hate the embedded comment form... It takes much longer to scroll down and then wait--and scroll down again to see if the comment 'took'... Then it pops back to the top and you have to scroll down AGAIN to see whether it worked or not... I like the pop up window and/or the full page comment form MUCH MUCH better.

    I changed mine a month or so ago and haven't had any problems. And it's so much nicer when you don't have to enter a word to get your comment to post.

    THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU....I have had the same frustration with moving on and not realizing word verification was popping up. GRRRRR I don't think I have it on there but I am checking right now. :o)

    I made this change a while back and I've been pretty pleased at how good the spam catchers are. I get more spam, but very rarely is it published in the comments.
