Feed the Birds.....

That has to be one of my most favorite songs from childhood.  Thank you Mary Poppins, Bert, and the Birdwoman for that lovely moment.  When I visited St. Paul's Cathedral in London, that was all I could think about.

Well now I am feeding the birds at my own house....or at least trying to.  Thanks to Perky Pet Feeders, I have a beautiful new bird feeder for my birds!

This one is the Triple Tube Bird Feeder, and I LOVE the copper color of it.  We set it with a heavy pole, called re-bar, that we had out in the tool shed.  It takes a pretty strong pole to stand up to the 20-30+ mph winds we can have around here on any given day.

(Yes!  I need to deadhead my peonys!  Lord give me just an extra hour in my day!)

Now my goal is to get the birds to come to it.  I've been watching it as often as possible to catch a bird eating from it!  There is a burning bush just about 12 feet from it, and then the row of hollyhocks where the birds love to gather, but they haven't ventured to the feeder yet.  I may have to consult my bird loving friends Ann and Betsy to see if they have any words of wisdom for me.  If you, dear reader, have any suggestions as to how I get the birds to come to the feeder, please pass them along.  I will let you know how it goes!

Here comes the best part:     If you would like to win a Copper Triple Tube Bird Feeder head over to the Real Farmwives of America & Friends Blog (www.realfarmwivesofamerica.com) and sign up for the giveaway!

Ok, now scoot on over to see how my other friends are faring with their new feeders! Tweet Tweet!

Perky Pet did provide me with this product to review, however the thoughts and opinions shared about this product on this blog are my own.

  1. Ooooohhhh....I like this bird feeder! I will have to scoot on over.

  2. Congrats, Lana.... Once you get the 'bug'--you'll add more and more feeders... Right now, you obviously had a great start... I can promise you that the birds will come. Just be patient...

I put my feeders totally away for 3 weeks while we were gone... Got them back out ---and YES--the birds came back...

The best birdseed to offer --if you only have one feeder--is Black Oil Sunflower Seeds... You can get them at most any store like Walmart or Lowe's, etc...... MOST birds like them --and they aren't terribly expensive...

Good Luck... Keep us posted --and hopefully, the squirrels and raccoons won't enjoy the feeder as much as the birds!!!!

  3. Betsy, I have the sunflower (black)seeds in there. I just need to be a bit more patient! Do they sell that in a box anywhere?

  4. Hi Lana Love your feeder. I also use black oil sunflower seed I put one of the cylinders in thistle and the sunflower since I have a choice. See my blog. I get my at the feed store. Comes in 50 or 25 pounds. Cheaper The cats can scare away birds. In time you will get birds Enjoy

  5. That sure is a nice birdfeeder! Gonna check out the other girls's feeders!

And thank you for your sweet comment on my "friends" post!

  6. I'm finally getting caught up on your blog. I love the bird feeder! I am amazed that you can have 20-30 mph winds; send a few of those breezes down here :) Have a great week!

  7. Don't worry if the birds don't come to your feeder right away. It may take a few days or a week for them to get curious. Birds are very cautious and will observe the feeder for days before landing on it. It will only take one to start eating and the rest will join in. Enjoy your new hobby, and take lots of pictures.

  8. Oh I love it! We love to fed the Finch birds. It is a wonderful thing to watch them come and eat at our house. That looks like a really nice feeder you have. Enjoy! Have a great day!

  9. That is a BEAUTIFUL bird feeder. I don't have room for one (or the poo that comes with it) BUT was thinking of a little hummingbird feeder. :o)

  10. I <3 Mary Poppins, too! Lookin' good, Lana! :)
